Christmas morning in Ormond Beach, FL
ORMOND BEACH, FL -- A year ago today we were shivering in a campground in Tierra Verde, FL, on the West Coast south of St. Petersburg. Today we're home with the air conditioning on.
It's supposed to hit 80 today, the humidity must be in the 90s, and there's not much of a breeze at all. It feels like summer, a Florida season we annually go to great distances (Montana, Alaska) to avoid.
After two cold winters in a row, we had almost forgotten that some winters here aren't cold at all. Since we got home Oct. 2, we've had two or three cool snaps that lasted a day or two. The weatherfolk on television are suggesting we might have another of those Thursday.
We can only hope.
