Poised for takeoff

On the way

 ORMOND BEACH, FL -- This bald eagle is a bit of a mind-reader, but he or she is not infallible.

 For more than three months we've regularly driven or walked through a park where a bald eagle often perches in the top of the tallest tree in this particular patch of woods.

 We've seen the bird several times.  We've taken cameras to the park several times.  The eagle always seems to know when we'll have cameras.  The last time we got a picture of an eagle in this location was 13 months ago.

 Sunday looked like decent morning to try again.  The weather was cooperative.  And so was the bird, posing for several minutes before turning camera-shy and flying away.

 For a while we wandered around town, checking out a few other locations where we've spotted eagles before, but we didn't get lucky again.
