YOSEMITE, CA -- Our first four days here have been somewhat chaotic because of the housing situation. Since the "high camp" portion of the park has not yet opened due to snow conditions, things are crowded here in the valley.
So instead of unpacking and moving into a small but adequate room or cabin, Prince Charming and I have been bunking in separate dorms, male and female, a quarter-mile apart.
In other words, we've been continuing to live out of our car, carrying in only enough to get through each night.
One of our supervisors has taken pity on us, bless her heart. She was leaving the park for her days off Sunday, and she offered us the use of her room and private bath for the next three nights, or until we get our own place, whichever comes first.
We celebrated by unpacking the car, getting our bicycles out and assembled, and repacking with the extra space we have now.
We like the neighborhood. Just a few steps away from our door is this classic view of Halfdome.
Monday, we go to work!
