Mountain goat just below Logan Pass
WEST GLACIER, MT -- We deal with daily construction delays on our multiple trips up and down Going to the Sun Road. Other delays are more entertaining.
Just below the top of the hill, aka Logan Pass, a group of mountain goats gather each day to lick salt off the parked heavy equipment, and to pose for pictures. Every car stops for driver or passengers to snap a few. So I have to stop my bus behind them and sometimes I shoot a picture too.
This fellow is getting ready to wander between cars and then head down the road at about 3 mph, leading a slow parade of automobiles. He seems to enjoy the attention, and looks for more creative ways to perform. Sometimes he walks along the low wall which borders the road. Other times he shows off his skills in frolicking on the steep slope below the road, or climbing the equally steep snowbank on the other side.
