Hot pool at Radium Hot Springs
RADIUM HOT SPRINGS, BC -- We've escaped our jobs, but not the Casey Anthony furor.
On our four-day weekend, we're visiting this small tourist town just outside Kootenay (KOOT-nee) National Park. We've found a reasonably-priced motel room and are enjoying having a real bed, a private bath, a television and enough space to move around without elbowing each other.
When we checked in, the nice lady who is the mom in this mom-and-pop motel started talking about Casey Anthony as soon as she learned we live in Florida. She believes Casey "dun it," and was a bit disappointed to learn we both dive for the mute button whenever we hear the word "Casey."
Watching Canadian television these past two days, we've had occasion to punch mute several times.
This morning we went for a soak in the Hot Springs that are just three kilometers up the road. We enjoyed it, but not as much as we did in 2006 when we stopped in here on our way to Alaska. It was late April then, and quite chilly outside, and that makes hot springs feel quite nice.
Right now, Canada is experiencing a heat wave, and the 100+F water isn't that much hotter than the air.
