Crazy wave action at Devil's Churn

 FLORENCE, OR -- Cleaning out the camera -- one more shot of a fascinating bird.
 And an exploding wave below Cape Perpetua, one of our favorite spots along this coast.  In the background of the wave picture is the "coastal layer" which is the official name for the fog bank that lingers along the beach so often.
 Locals have told us that when Eugene, 50 miles east, is having a heat wave, this part of the coast gets fog.  Sure enough, when I checked the weather, this afternoon it was 90+ in Eugene with 29 percent humidity.  Here it was 66 degrees with 80 percent humidity.
 Given the choice, I'll take Florence over Eugene, especially since we have checked into a hotel and spent the afternoon in a laundromat getting all our dirty stuff clean and all our wet stuff dry.
