A hike for sore eyes

Fern Lake

 ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, CO -- Eleven days into our trip, and finally we had a chance to do our first hike Monday. 
 We picked what seems to be the most popular hike near the Moraine Park Campground where we are spending three nights without electricity or showers.  At $10 per night, the price beats everything but staying with relatives.
 Anyhow, we hiked to a place called Fern Lake, which required more miles than we were ready for, although I had misread a map and didn't realize that at the time.
 The lake was beautiful.
 When we got back, we figured we had walked about nine miles.  I felt pretty good, but Prince Charming claimed to be near death, when he was willing to speak to me at all.
 We both slept quite well Monday night, and voted unanimously to do a car trip Tuesday.
