| The Inn at Castle Rock
BISBEE, AZ -- Prince Charming loves old hotels, and that's why we wound up spending Wednesday night here. The Inn at Castle Rock is more than 100 years old, and used to be a rooming house for miners, back when this was a mining town.
Bisbee is now full of art galleries, antique stores, old hotels and derelict buildings. It's a nearly vertical town, with homes stacked nearly on top of each other on the canyon-sides. Streets are narrow and steep, and often one-way. There are long flights of steps leading from one street to another.
City Park, with its bandshell and playground, is one flat spot in town, but grass and shade are minimal. Most of the park is on top of a row of businesses.
I visited Bisbee on a bicycle trip 15 years ago and remembered it well: A thrilling downhill to get into town, and a nasty climb to get out. It hasn't changed much.
