Beautiful morning, but birds are missingORMOND BEACH, FL -- We've been home three and a half weeks, time to catch up on yard work, medical appointments, library books and YMCA workouts. We are so much at home now, it's hard to believe we were away for nearly six months.
Neither of my jobs is offering me any hours at this point, so I am enjoying the free time (though not the missing paychecks!) We are comfortable, but a bit bored.
The change in the weather last weekend -- fall arrived with a couple of 30-something mornings -- was a mood elevator. Florida is hard to beat when the heat and humidity leave us for the winter.
Wednesday morning we set out on a photo expedition, which turned out to be a disappointment. Though the still air was good for mirror shots, like the one above at a favorite roadside spot, the birds were in hiding.
We are looking forward to getting back to our old Wildlife Refuge haunts at Lake Woodruff and Merritt Island soon.
