PORT ORFORD, OR -- When the sun is out here, the coastal views are lovely.
Occasionally I spot something that reminds me of home. In the lower photo, just to the left of the rock, is a pickup truck parked on the beach.
Since I live in an area where driving on the beach is a tradition (and often a controversial one), I am always intrigued to discover other places where beach-driving is allowed.
Signs on the road that leads to this beach access explain the rules: The only cars allowed on the beach are those whose drivers qualify for handicapped permits. And four-wheel drive is highly recommended.
