JASPER, AB -- Once again, we drove around all morning in a fruitless search for wildlife, only to encounter an elk in town as we walked back from dinner.
It wasn't the sign that kept this cow from turning left -- it was the minivan that appeared at the intersection at just the wrong (or right) moment. She wouldn't have found anything of interest to the left anyway, since that street is lined with restaurants and souvenir shops.
Just after this photo was snapped, the elk turned around and headed back onto the grounds of the Parks Canada Visitors' Center, where the grass is more suitable for an elk's dinner.
