Resting my shoes, and feet at Burro Pass

TOIYABE NATIONAL FOREST, CA -- One thing we've learned this summer is that Yosemite National Park, while quite large, is just one part of a vast wilderness area with more hiking that we could do in three summers, or maybe 10.
Tuesday we hiked to Burro Pass in the Hoover Wilderness which is part of the Toiyabe National Forest. It was a mere 2.8 miles to the top of the pass, where I took the opportunity to rest my feet at 11,000 feet, give or take 100.
On the way up, we met a group of six women, ranging in ages from 52-67, who were returning from a multi-day backpacking trip over the pass to a place called Gilman Lake. Meeting folks like this is one of the things we look forward to in our travels.
One of the hikers has friends who drive buses in Denali National Park, and we found we have several mutual acquaintances in Alaska. We took a group picture of them, with six different cameras, and one of them returned the favor for us.
We were on the trail for four hours or so, not because it was that long or that difficult, but because there was so much scenery to enjoy, and photograph.
