TANTALLON, NS -- Tuesday morning we finally got out of the car to do a hike in the Seaside Adjunct of Kejimkujik National Park (attempt to pronounce at your own peril.)
The hike to the spot where the seals like to hang out was a bit more than three miles, round trip. We decided to take a longer loop back, without realizing how much longer it would be. We skirted the coast for a total of more than six miles.
The good news was that since it is so early in the season, the hike was free. There were no wardens (Canadian for rangers) on duty to collect the entry fee.
We couldn't find a restaurant that looked inviting for lunch, so we stopped at a place called Crescent Beach for a picnic.
You can drive on Crescent Beach, so I got another picture for my collection of driveable beaches. Back home, we have a famous driving beach, and locals sometimes boast that it's the only place in the world where you can drive on the beach.
In my travels, I've found that beach-driving isn't unique, or even rare.
