Anacortes, from Cap Sante

The eagle didn't show, but the bunny did

 ANACORTES, WA --  We've been enjoying Anacortes for almost a week, while we wait to begin a house-sit near Poulsbo, about 100 miles south of here, later this week.  It isn't our first visit, so we have several favorite restaurants and sights to revisit.  We've also discovered some interesting new stuff.

 The past three mornings, we have visited the Cap Sante viewpoint, which looks over the marina and the old part of the city.  Also, a couple of oil refineries, which aren't so scenic, but hey, we all need gasoline.

 On Sunday and Monday mornings we were standing up on Cap Sante when a bald eagle flew past, very close to us.  Unfortunately, neither of us had our cameras out.

 So Tuesday we showed up, at approximately the same time, got the cameras ready and took up strategic positions.

 We perched on the highest rocks for nearly 90 minutes, but of course the eagle didn't show.  Later in the day, enjoying the sun in a park down at sea level, I spotted him being chased by a smaller bird, just above the spot where we'd waited for him in the morning.

 The morning wasn't a complete washout, however, as I did get a few shots of this rabbit foraging among the rocks and weeds.
