Canada geese headed north, perhaps in search of a campsite
Durango and Silverton train passes our campgroundDURANGO, CO -- In seven days, we plan to be home.
At the moment, we are headed eastward by inches. It is too early to be in a rush, and there is more we want to see in this part of the country that there is in the East. The hard-driving will come later this week.
Sunday we returned to Durango, to the same campground where we spent a night in early May on our way to the Grand Canyon. The trees that were just showing green then are all yellow now.
In May, we rode the Durango and Silverton train up the mountain to the north, and spotted this campground on our way out of town, later searching it out in our van.
After checking the schedule downtown, we knew what time to expect the train to pass by the campground Sunday afternoon, and we were waiting with our cameras.
Earlier we had spotted these Canada geese, honking their way north, for some reason. I'm sure they will get their directions straightened out before the snows come.
