A lifetime of compliments on a $5 belt

 WEST GLACIER, MT -- I am never complimented on my wardrobe, and with good reason.  So I've been astonished over the past few weeks to find myself saying thank-you to folks who like something I'm wearing.
 It's a cheap, tacky vinyl belt I got at Walmart, regular price $8, reduced to five.
 At least six people -- friends at the campground, co-workers at the transit center, total strangers waiting to board my bus -- have told me they like it.
 I like it too, but mostly I like the fact that it holds my pants up.
