The parking lot after our last day of work

WEST GLACIER, MT  -- Friday evening we finished our last day of work as shuttle drivers in Glacier National Park.  Although the shuttle continues through Labor Day Monday, the other shift -- mostly local school bus drivers who worked the week at their regular jobs -- will cover the final three days.
 Our last four trips each up and down Going to the Sun Road were thankfully uneventful.  We both made it through the summer without a "wallbanger" incident and with our outside mirrors intact.
  Although we will miss the paychecks, it's always good to be free of obligations and we are more than ready to hit the road.
 Where to?  We're still discussing that and will make a decision after we wait out the traffic-crazed holiday weekend here and decide what to pack up, what to give away and what to throw away.  The Pacific Coast, somewhere, is a priority.  We haven't eaten fresh seafood since May.
 My favorite part of the workday here is always the parking lot in the evening, when the light on the mountain is particularly nice.  It was cloudy Friday, so it doesn't show up well in the picture above.
 But you might notice the beginning of fall color in the trees.  The short, hot, summer is almost over.
