Sun approaching from behind the Cascades

 ANACORTES, WA -- We have settled in here for a while, scoring a bare-bones campsite at the Cap Sante Marina, right downtown.

 Our site has location, location and location, but maddeningly, no picnic table. And in our liveaboard van, with space at a premium, we don't carry our own table because we almost never need one.

 Anyhow, we are making do.  We can walk to two supermarkets, the public library and any number of restaurants.  We can spot the occasional seal in the marina just steps from "home," and a bald eagle flies overhead now and then. The neighbors are friendly, and the weather is fine.

 Our plan has been to go from here to Glacier National Park in Montana, where we have several friends including the owners of a nice campground.  But the road we planned to take to get there, Washington 20 through North Cascades National Park, is closed due to the raging wildfires in Central Washington.

 There are other roads that lead to Montana, and we will probably have to make a detour next week.  For the moment, though, we are happy to be in a place with plenty to enjoy.
