Virgin River roars past Zion peaksZION NATIONAL PARK, UT -- Monday is our check-in day for our jobs at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, so our vacation will be over. We are beginning the 130-mile trip south right after breakfast.
After a short morning hike Sunday, we set out on a day trip to St. George for some last-minute shopping, since we will likely not leave the remote North Rim for several weeks. We didn't have to go that far, as we ran across a brand new Walmart in Hurricane, UT, which probably saved us 30 miles of driving and a lot of traffic troubles.
We also got back to our campsite in Zion in time to enjoy the afternoon, including a walk on the trail that passes by the campground and crosses the Virgin River several times. The picture above was shot from one of the bridges.
