It was a good day to stay indoorsNORTH RIM, AZ -- Tuesday morning it was 35 degrees outside our dorm room, and a roaring wind was soon sending us horizontal snowflakes by the millions.
It was a heavy-snow winter here and apparently it isn't over yet. This stuff continued off and on all day, although periods of sunshine melted what little had accumulated. We were thankful to have brought the heaviest coats we own, and to be sitting in classes indoors most of the day.
Among the things we learned in class: Invisible black ice can sometimes form on the sidewalks here, even in May.
