Rain happens

The rain in Maine
Guess we won't spend the night here

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, ME -- For a while, we were being stalked by heat.  Wednesday, the rain caught up with us and continues into the evening of its second day.  Thursday we checked into a motel for the second night in a row and the fourth time in 16 nights since we left home.
There's no problem with sleeping in the Magic Bus when it rains.  It doesn't leak.  The difficulty comes with the 2 a.m. rest-room run, unpleasant but necessary.  Back at the Bus, you now have wet raingear, which cannot be allowed to touch your warm, dry bed.  Or the upholstery on the front seats.  Or anything else you need to keep dry.
There are also confinement issues.  On a nice day, we check into a campground in mid to late afternoon, wander around a bit to stretch our legs, relax in our camp chairs and then fix dinner, eat, clean up and then relax some more, by a campfire if it's cool enough.  None of this works well in a relentless rain, which leaves us stuck inside the Bus for hours.
And so we take the easier way out, which produces further complications.  We are set up to live in the Bus, and moving into a motel room requires reorganization.  We always make multiple trips back to the parking lot, in the rain, to get things we've forgotten.  At least when we come in with wet raingear, there's a bathtub to hang it over.
Thursday it was time for another laundromat adventure. At least we wouldn't waste any good weather doing laundry.
We found a good one, clean and spacious, with wi-fi and a courteous attendant.  The place is open 7-24, but not staffed at night.   Hence these signs posted in several spots.
