| The northern end of US 41
COPPER HARBOR, MI -- I've been to the southern end of US 41 in Miami many times. Last week, I we reached the northern end in much different surroundings.
The road officially ends just beyond this small town, near the state park where we camped overnight. There's a dirt road that continues farther north, toward the end of the peninsula, but it didn't look as if it would be fun to drive.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan was a place I'd wanted to visit for years, since I read Philip Caputo's Indian Country. It was as wild and remote interesting as I expected, and the mosquitoes lived up to their legend.
