Chipmunk by the trail
Scavenging breakfast on the Lodge patioNORTH RIM, AZ -- At the Lodge, they don't like to talk much about RC issues.
Rodent control.
The cute little chipmunks like these above know all sorts of ways to get into guest cabins. Sometimes, though, they can't quite recall how to get out. And when they believe themselves to be trapped indoors, they go crazy.
Many a guest has come back from a hike, or dinner, to find his groceries plundered, bed desecrated, carpets shredded. And by this time, the chipmunk doesn't have enough remaining sanity to run out an open door.
Usually, kids enjoy this type of adventure. Their parents, not so much.
Lodge employees have become accustomed to convincing chipmunks to leave guest rooms, and then cleaning up the mess.
